 Boulder, Colorado Family Law Attorneys

Boulder CO Family Law Attorney  Divorce and other family law conflicts are nearly always traumatic life events.  However, often those involved do not understand that in addition to being a major life event, divorce and related proceedings can involve complex legal issues surrounding finances, property, taxes, employment, and other things that dramatically impact lifestyle, retirement, and countless other aspects of one's life and plans for the future.

A skilled and understanding family law attorney can help make the process easier on you and your family. At the Law Offices of Schunk & Dunn, LLC, we understand how emotionally stressful a family dispute can be. We will help you get through this difficult time period as quickly and as efficiently as possible.

Our attorneys are skilled in handling stressful family law situations. We represent clients throughout Colorado in the following family law matters:

  • Adoption, including infant and toddler adoption, stepparent adoption, and grandparent adoption
  • Divorce, including no-fault divorce and property division
  • Alimony or spousal support (also called “spousal maintenance”)
  • Child custody and visitation (also called “parental rights and responsibilities”)
  • Child support, modification, and arrears
  • Prenuptial agreements
  • Dependency and neglect
  • Post-decree matters, such as support modification, modification or enforcement of custody, modification or enforcement of parenting time, or other modifications or enforcement cases
  • ADR (alternative dispute resolution), including mediation and arbitration of family law disputes and divorces

Negotiating vs. Going to Court

We approach all family law disputes with the utmost care and congeniality. We understand the difficulty involved, and that this dispute may be one of the most trying times of our clients' lives, both financially and emotionally.  We bring all of our resources and experience to bear in trying to resolve our cases effectively and quickly;  however, should trial be necessary, we will not hesitate to aggressively represent your interests in court.

Often, family law disputes can be resolved through negotiation between the parties, or through other ADR (alternative dispute resolution) processes like mediation or arbitration.  The resulting settlements and agreements give you greater control of the process and possible outcomes, are often more flexible than orders issued by a court after a trial, and therefore can account for nuances of your family situation that a judge may not understand.  By negotiating or mediating disputes in family law cases, we can also avoid the uncertainty of litigation and reduce expenses.  However, if trial is necessary, our experienced trial attorneys will zealously represent your interests in court.
