The Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005 ("BAPCPA") which applies to all cases filed after October 16, 2005, imposes extensive and complex disclosure requirements on entities-including law firms-providing "bankruptcy assistance" (advice) to what are called "assisted persons" (prospective client-debtors).
